This constructor has undergone a handful of editorial changes that we
fell behind on. But we weren't able to take the updates until now due to
a spec bug in those updates. See:

The result is that we can remove the inheritance of Intl::DateTimeFormat
from Unicode::DateTimeFormat; the former now contains the latter as an
internal slot.
LibLocale was split off from LibUnicode a couple years ago to reduce the
number of applications on SerenityOS that depend on CLDR data. Now that
we use ICU, both LibUnicode and LibLocale are actually linking in this
data. And since vcpkg gives us static libraries, both libraries are over
30MB in size.
This patch reverts the separation and merges LibLocale into LibUnicode
again. We now have just one library that includes the ICU data.
Further, this will let LibUnicode share the locale cache that previously
would only exist in LibLocale.
There have been a number of changes to the locale resolution AOs that
we've fallen behind on. Mostly editorial, but includes one normative
change to canonicalize Unicode extension keywords in the Intl.Locale
constructor.
This uses ICU for the Intl.DateTimeFormat `format` `formatToParts`,
`formatRange`, and `formatRangeToParts`.
This lets us remove most data from our date-time format generator. All
that remains are time zone data and locale week info, which are relied
upon still for other interfaces. So they will be removed in a future
patch.
Note: All of the changes to the test files in this patch are now aligned
with other browsers. This includes:
* Some very incorrect formatting of Japanese symbols. (Looking at the
old results now, it's very obvious they were wrong.)
* Old FIXMEs regarding range formatting not including the start/end date
when only time fields were requested, but the dates differ.
* Day period inconsistencies.
In the Iterator Helpers proposal, we must create a generator object with
additional internal slots and behavior differences.
GeneratorObject is currently implemented assuming it wraps around an
ECMAScriptFunctionObject with generated bytecode. In this proposal, we
instead have "Abstract Closure" blocks. So this marks the `execute`
method as virtual, to allow the future subclass to essentially just
invoke those closures.
We will also require mutable access to the [[GeneratorState]] internal
slot.
This brings the function name in line with how we usually name those
functions, which is with a `read_` or `write_` prefix depending on what
they do.
While at it, make the internal `_impl` function private and not-virtual,
since there is no good reason to ever override that function.
Similar to POSIX read, the basic read and write functions of AK::Stream
do not have a lower limit of how much data they read or write (apart
from "none at all").
Rename the functions to "read some [data]" and "write some [data]" (with
"data" being omitted, since everything here is reading and writing data)
to make them sufficiently distinct from the functions that ensure to
use the entire buffer (which should be the go-to function for most
usages).
No functional changes, just a lot of new FIXMEs.
Instead of just iterating indexed properties and direct properties on
the object's shape, let's walk the prototype chain and grab every
non-symbol property by re-using the AO for for-in statements.
We'll probably want to move this to a custom algorithm just for pretty
printing that doesn't skip some property types, but this already gives
a major improvement when printing LegacyPlatformObjects from LibWeb to
the console.
First, this adds an overload of PrimitiveString::create for StringView.
This overload will throw an OOM completion if creating a String fails.
This is not only a bit more convenient, but it also ensures at compile
time that all PrimitiveString::create(string_view) invocations will be
handled as String and OOM-aware.
Next, this wraps all invocations to PrimitiveString::create(string_view)
with MUST_OR_THROW_OOM.
A small PrimitiveString::create(DeprecatedFlyString) overload also had
to be added to disambiguate between the StringView and DeprecatedString
overloads.
DeprecatedFlyString relies heavily on DeprecatedString's StringImpl, so
let's rename it to A) match the name of DeprecatedString, B) write a new
FlyString class that is tied to String.
This makes construction of Utf16String fallible in OOM conditions. The
immediate impact is that PrimitiveString must then be fallible as well,
as it may either transcode UTF-8 to UTF-16, or create a UTF-16 string
from ropes.
There are a couple of places where it is very non-trivial to propagate
the error further. A FIXME has been added to those locations.
Note that js_rope_string() has been folded into this, the old name was
misleading - it would not always create a rope string, only if both
sides are not empty strings. Use a three-argument create() overload
instead.
This will make it easier to support both string types at the same time
while we convert code, and tracking down remaining uses.
One big exception is Value::to_string() in LibJS, where the name is
dictated by the ToString AO.
We have a new, improved string type coming up in AK (OOM aware, no null
state), and while it's going to use UTF-8, the name UTF8String is a
mouthful - so let's free up the String name by renaming the existing
class.
Making the old one have an annoying name will hopefully also help with
quick adoption :^)
And make it capable of printing to any Core::Stream.
This is useful on its own and can be used in a number of places, so move
it out and make it available as JS::print().
